Launching publication: 'Ecosystemen van Werk'
February 1st, 2021
February first was the introduction of the publication 'Ecosystemen van Werk in de stad' (Ecosystems of work in the city) by Spitl in the Amsterdam debate centre 'Pakhuis de Zwijger'. Monica Adams, together with Folkert van Hagen, was part of the discussion. In a short pitch (starts at 13.50 min.) they tell about the development of the KeileCollectief and their workplace the Keilepand, an almost 100 year old warehouse in M4H. This mixed-use harbor area will transform in the coming 20 years to a vibrant working and living environment. With the purchase of the Keilepand in 2019, the KeileCollectief has ensured themselves of an affordable workingspace in the years to come. An article about the building and its occupants, and an interview with Monica and Folkert is part of the publication. You can download the whole publication here. The article starts at page 89. Expo METEOPOLIS in KeileZaal now in 3D!
January 20th, 2021
Due to coroma the expo METEOPOLIS in our KeileZaal can't be visited. But now there is a virtual tour! Go and see via this link. The expo is part of the City of Rotterdam’s program Weatherwise Rotterdam, partner of IABR. It presents four design offices with a challenge: devise and design a future scenario for Rotterdam 2060, keeping in mind that the city is facing climate change, extreme weather and rising sea levels.
IABR/METEOPOLIS
The designers were asked to take as their point of departure the decision to embrace the water, rather than continuing to fight it. And to consider whether or not we will be able to live in Rotterdam in 2060, and if so, how.

The four future scenarios are presented at METEOPOLIS, an exhibition that offers visitors a look at Rotterdam in 2060, in the context of IABR–DOWN TO EARTH and its core question: Where Can We Land? The aim is to further an informed, open and pointed discussion about the complex problems that climate change will confront us with and to influence decision-making processes in such a way that we will still be able to live in Rotterdam in 40 years’ time.
